Tucked at the base of the scenic Santa
Rosa Mountains, ;e Vintage Club is one
of the most prestigious private clubs in
the highly competitive Coachella Valley
market. No wonder, then, that the members decided that a;er more than 15 years
since the last clubhouse renovation, it was
time for an update.
“We have a phenomenal membership,”
said General Manager Steve Cenicola,
“and they have a lot of pride in their club.
;ey want to keep the amenities and
grounds ;rst class.”
A;er a three-year planning process that
involved considerable input from mem-
bers, the result is a total makeover that
gives the clubhouse a decidedly casual
feel while making the facility more versa-
tile. One key element in the renovation of
the 89,000-square-foot building was the
installation of sliding glass partitions that
give the club ;exibility to provide for both
intimate gatherings and large parties.
Cenicola said the size of ;e Pointe,
the club’s premier outdoor dining area,
was doubled and its elevation raised 2
feet above the adjoining lake. Fire pits
with lounge seats were added to ;e
Pointe’s two covered terraces. ;e kitchen
was completely remodeled and its menu
updated. ;e changes allowed the club to
o;er meal service ;ve days a week, which
increased dining by 45 percent in its ;rst
season of operation.
;e club’s main entrance was rede-
signed with a specially commissioned
glass façade, a motif that was continued
throughout the club in ;oor lanterns and
wall sconces. Energy-e;cient lighting was
installed throughout the club, and sky-
lights were added, providing signi;cant
electricity cost savings.
In the ;rst year a;er the remodel, the
club boosted its membership by 33 percent.
“It has provided a real shot of energy
to the membership,” Cenicola said. “;ey
love using our club now. ;ey are booking
more functions. And they enjoy showing
it o; to friends and family.”
What the judges said:
;is renovation is so successful that this
property can claim its new name of “real
modern oasis in the desert.” ;e views
of the golf course, trees and surrounding
mountains are magni;cent. ;is club is a
combination of great architecture and lush
green areas in the desert. To the “
wandering members,” this is now your daily stop
to replenish your supply of food, golf and
fun with your friends and family.
