For the first time in 10 years, the international team defeated its U.S. counterpart in their home soil, winning the annual Palmer cup. The international team needed to win thirteen of the available 24 points in the last day’s singles matches to become the first team that wins in the U. S. since the year 2009. The international team won points in 4 matches in the morning played at the Alotian Club located in Roland, Arkansas. Sofia Garcia, Alex Del Rey, Agathe Laisne, and Lorna McClymont were the representatives for the international side.
The international’s victory also prevented back-to-back titles for the home side. For the Michael Carter award, Leonie Harm of Gerlingen, Germany and Alex Scott of Traverse City, Michigan were the deserving winners. The award is given to participants, which constitutes the ideals and qualities of integrity and sportsmanship while upholding the true spirit of the game. Chun An Yu was nominated by the two teams to accept the Arnold Palmer Cup exemption to play in the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup Invitational. Meanwhile, Julie McCarthy of Swords, Ireland gets the invite in the Evian Championship, which will happen later this year in July.
